Cyclone Robotics earned Tournament Champion and Excellence Awards at the Cabot Classic Robotics Tournament, the first tournament in Arkansas for the 22 - 23 season. Team 967C, in an alliance with a Cabot team, bested all other teams in a single elimination tournament. The Tournament Champion award was earned by 967C for winning the event. The Excellence Award is the top award at a VEX robotics tournament. Only one team earns this award and they earn it by exemplifying overall excellence in building a high-quality robot, implementing the engineering design process, performing well at the event, and impressing judges. Team 967D won this award for their high performance in multiple categories on Saturday. Three other robotics teams competed and made it to at least the quarter finals. Cyclone Robotics looks forward to this season and competing against new challengers in the future! #ForwardRSD

RHS Computer Science and Robotics students toured Reed Precision Manufacturing in Russellville. Students learned how computing and automation are revolutionizing the manufacturing industry and how the skills they are learning at RHS are preparing them to enter the workforce. Mr. Hodge, the RHS Computer Science Teacher, says “The students were excited to see jobs right here in Russellville where they can apply their problems solving skills. We are thankful that Mr. Reed invited us to see his operations and hope to make a lasting partnership with him.” #ForwardRSD

Mr. Young's AP Lang students began working on a research synthesis project that required them to read and evaluate sources. The students moved around the room in groups as they read and discussed the sources that had been taped to the walls. They then used these sources to produce defensible thesis statements and document-supported arguments in class. #ForwardRSD

RHS Students Participate in Arkansas High School Summer Program Arkansas Governor’s School is a four-week summer residential program for rising high school seniors who are residents of the state of Arkansas. The program is funded by the Arkansas State Legislature as a portion of the biennial appropriation for Gifted and Talented Programs through the State Department of Education. State funds provide tuition, room, board, and instructional materials for each student who attends the four-week program on the site of a residential college campus, sponsored by the state. Arkansas Governor’s School offers intellectually and emotionally mature students a challenging curriculum along with exciting extracurricular and social programs. Russellville High School congratulates our amazing scholars. Current juniors interested in attending AGS during the Summer of 2023 should contact Dana Sumter, GT/AP Coordinator at dana.sumter@rsdk12.net.
