The Arkansas Tech Wonderboys Football Team greeted our Allstars at morning drop off! We love having role models from our community visit OHE!

We had another great SHINE assembly! Former Oakland All Star, Mayor Fred Teague, delivered our awards and spoke to our students about being leaders. Students earned stars for showing kindness, our Capturing Kids Hearts word of the month. Students also received awards for showing character traits from our profile of an OHE student! #OHEistheplacetobe #AchievingExcellenceTogether

February is Black History Month! Our Oakland Allstars learned about contributions of amazing leaders. They shared quotes that exemplify positivity and self-confidence.

Our students love Science with Mrs. McGahee. Students participate in many hands on projects like gardening, coding bots, studying fossils, and learning about parts of a plant, pollination, and life cycles.

Don't forget....Join us tonight Monday, February 26th for a parent involvement night!

Tomorrow night, that’s Monday, February 26, our counselor is hosting a parent night. On this night, we will have guest counselors and therapists along with Mrs. James and myself will be sharing strategies and ideas to help support students with social emotional development. Our children are faced with an onslaught of forces such as social media, peer pressure, and television. Children are developing anxiety, attention issues, power control issues and self-esteem struggles. We want to offer practical supports and ideas to help parents and students find ways to problem-solve and find peace at home in a world that often feels chaotic. We will start at 5:45 with cookies and snow cones and then meet starting at 6:00. I don’t know about you, but I feel these struggles every day with my own family and I’m looking forward to hearing some ideas to help me be a better parent. Hope to see you there. If you have any questions, feel free to contact the school at 968-2084 and ask for Mrs. James or Mrs. Shirley.

Today is the last day of our Scholastic Book fair. We will be open after school and during conferences until 6:15. Thank you for supporting our library!!
